Jewelry
All MADAJ piercing is sold individually, unless otherwise indicated. To buy a pair, just add two of the items to your cart.
A traditional stud is the most common type of earring. To wear it, insert the earring into your piercing and secure it in place with a traditional butterfly backing. Traditional studs come in one size that fits most lobe piercings.
On the other hand, a threaded stud consists of a post with disc at the end, which is inserted through the back of the ear. A frontal piece is then screwed onto the post to ensure a snug fit. Threaded studs offer versatility as the post length can be adjusted, making them suitable for multiple piercings. You can move the frontal to different locations by simply swapping out the post.
To insert a threaded stud, follow these steps:
Insert the post, also known as the wearable surface of the backing, into your piercing from behind so that the disc is on the back of your ear.
Insert the threaded frontal into the post at the front of your ear, and gently rotate the frontal clockwise to tighten it.
Continue rotating until the frontal is flush with the post. Take care not to overturn the frontal, as it may damage the screw due to the delicate nature of gold.
The term "gauge" refers to the thickness of a stud post or hoop post. In gauge measurements, a higher number signifies a slimmer piece. Below are the gauge sizes for our range of products:
- Threaded studs, Nose piercing, Daith & Septum piercings use 16 gauge.
- For hoop piercings, we use 20 gauge.
- All our navel jewelry pieces are crafted in 14 gauge.
To help you understand these sizes better, here's a conversion chart:
- 20 gauge = 0.8mm
- 19 gauge = 0.9mm
- 18 gauge = 1.0mm
- 16 gauge = 1.2mm
- 14 gauge = 1.6mm
Should you have any inquiries about gauge sizes or need specific information about any piece, feel free to reach out to us at contact@madajpiercings.com.
Gifting
For most piercings, a post length of 6.5 mm works well with threaded studs. However, if you have a specific piercing location in mind, here are our recommended post sizes:
- High or Stacked Lobe: 6.5 mm
- Helix: 6.5 mm
- Conch: 6.5 mm
- Tash Rook: 5 mm
- Tragus: 6.5 mm
- Forward Helix: 5 mm
- Nostril: 6.5 mm
- Earlobe, piercing 1 and 2: 6.5 mm
- Earlobe, piercing 3 and up: 5 mm
If you're looking to purchase a hoop for a specific piercing location, we suggest the following diameter sizes:
- Earlobe, piercing 1 and 2: 8mm
- Earlobe, piercing 3 and up: 6.5mm
- Helix: 8mm
- Conch: 11mm
- Tragus: 6.5mm
- Forward Helix: 5mm
Hoops and traditional studs make great gifts as they require less guesswork when it comes to size. For Earlobe piercings, traditional earrings generally fit most wearers. As for hoops, an 8mm size usually works well for most piercings.
Traditional Ear Studs are the most common type of earring. They are great gifts because they come in one size that fits most Lobe piercings. To wear them, simply insert the earring into your piercing and secure it with a traditional butterfly backing.
Threaded Studs consist of a long, tube-like earring post and a frontal piece that screws on and off the post. These earrings offer versatility as the frontal can be attached to different length posts. We recommend purchasing threaded studs as gifts only for cartilage piercings.
