Rook Piercing Collection
The rook sits in the inner fold of cartilage above the daith and below the upper rim of the ear, passing through a raised ridge that gives the jewelry a slightly elevated position. That elevation is what makes the rook different from most cartilage placements, catching light from above rather than from the front or side. It is one of the few inner ear piercings that adds genuine height to a curated ear stack without requiring a placement along the outer rim.
Rook Piercing Styles
MADAJ's rook piercing collection comprises hoops and curved barbells, handcrafted to order in nickel-free, hypoallergenic 18k gold and set with natural diamonds, black diamonds, sapphires, rubies, or emeralds. Available in yellow gold, white gold, or rose gold.
Every hoop features a hinged clicker closure that opens and locks with a single motion, suited to the rook's tighter inner fold. Our curved barbells use a secure screw-back fastening that holds the piece firmly against the natural curve of the placement. Recommended curved barbell length and hoop diameter are both 5 mm to 6.5 mm. Gemstone, gold color, and sizing are fully customizable, with every piece produced individually once your order is placed.
Styling a Rook Piercing
The rook naturally adds detail to the inner ear and works particularly well alongside daith, conch, helix, tragus, and lobe piercings. Its elevated position helps create visual balance while adding texture to an ear composition. Sitting above the daith, it forms a second layer of interest in the center of the ear, giving a stack a sense of height and depth.
